How to keep your trading privileges

IQoption informed traders about an upcoming piece of legislation from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) that will affect your trading experience in the near future. As a broker licensed in the EU, IQ Option will have to implement the following restrictions:

  • Starting July 2nd
    • A total ban of Binary options
  • From August 1st
    • Leverage no higher than 30:1 on CFDs and Forex
    • Leverage limit of 2:1 on Cryptocurrency trading.

All of the listed restrictions will affect Retail clients of IQ Option Europe Ltd. However, Professional clients may choose to be exempted from said restrictions. Find out if you qualify for the Professional client status to lift the new trading restrictions.

Categorisation Criteria

The criteria entailed for categorising Clients based on the relevant provisions of the Law are as follows:

A. Retail Client: is a client who is neither Professional nor Eligible Counterparty,

B. Professional Client: is a client who possesses the experience, knowledge and expertise to make his own investment decisions and properly assess the risks that he incurs.

Per se Professional Clients: Each of the following is a per se professional client unless and to the extent it is an eligible counterparty or is given a different categorisation under this policy:
